Aloha All,
Shawn is a punctual guy. I told him to cruise by my house at 6AM and we would drive out to Robots for a session, knowing that my buddies have been saying it was fun this week. So I’m out loading my gear into the Honda, and I look at my watch and it says 5:59. As I look down the street, here comes the Tractor! So off we go. I think I drive a little too fast for Shawn’s taste, as he kept looking out at the open blue sky and then talking loudly about his two kids! I told him I knew that road like the back of my hand, and how many thousands of times I’d driven that road, which I guess to me just seem like a mini Indy Car Series track these days. He didn’t seem to care about the back of my hand, but stayed calm in the car while amped to surf.
We finally arrived and made the hike out to the spot to find very playful surf. The shooting conditions were very good, clear air and sky, the sun just rising up over the mountains to provide superb studio quality lighting, and a fun swell. It’s really cool to shoot close to home because I see so many of my Bro’s and the vibe is just that much better. It’s always neat when everyone knows each other and are smiling, hooting each other on. The session was fun, and after about three hours both Shawn and I were ready to head back into town, me to spend the rest of the day editing and Shawn to go paddle an SUP through Avila with his wife! What a life! Well, “Stay Stoked and Stay Forever Young….Da Lieb”
