Brent Lieberman
Brent Lieberman is a premiere surf photographer. We couldn’t be more stoked to have him as one of our Senior Photographers at Surfwanderer Online Magazine.
Hi, I’m Brent Lieberman. My interest in photography started when I was about 10 years old. The first camera I can remember owning was a Kodak Brownie. I started surfing in 1962 and went to Hawaii during Christmas break in 1963, and have been hooked ever since. I started serious shooting in 1967 when I bought my first Nikon, a Black Nikomat. My first photo was published in Surfer Magazine in 1970, it was a small ad for Small Faces Surfboards featuring my friend Dru Harrison. Since then my work has been published in Surfer Magazine, Surfer Photo Annual, Surfing Magazine, Slide Magazine, Deep Magazine and I have slide shows on santabarbarasurfer.com on a regular basis. I was also was a staff photographer for Surf magazine. Some of my archival photos were used in the movie documentary “Dogtown and ZBoys.” Many of my contemporary photos have been used for TV commercials, newspaper stories and display advertising. Last year, I won co first prize on the Slipping Jetstreams online photos contest for one of my line-up shots. Im still stoked as ever, hope you enjoy my work. Thanks for visiting my portfolio and I hope you enjoyed looking at my photographs as much as I did making them, and I’ll see ya at the Beach…Aloha

Aloha!
Long time coming and very much deserved. Keep up the stoke, which we can all see when we look at your work. Your prints are enjoyed not just by the surfing world but the viewer at large because in the end this is more than just surf photography but fine art at its best. Now I’m waiting for the gallery with the awarness to give you a retrospective. Aloha,Larry Lessing
