Hoagies Restaurant

Showcasing restaurants that tantalize the pallets of the surfer before and after a surf session is easy when the restaurants taste as good as Hoagies Restaurant in Pismo Beach, CA.  A locally owned and run mom and pop type of a shop, quality is always number one over quantity (though I can’t ever finish my meal they’re so big).

Run by Jason, Kasey, and Nick, Hoagies has a care-free Jamaican reggae surfer vibe.  It’s a hit in the summer for those on vacation, and Hoagies houses a strong representation of locals because of their strong roots to the town and surf community as well.

Nick is the surfer of the crew of owners.  He’s one of the boys in town, shredding in the water by morning, and then off to work in the kitchen about 150 paces from the Pacific Ocean to run his business by day.

Owner Nick Stieb

2012 has definitely showed it’s scares in the world for expendable cash to go out to eat.  This is a major reason Surfwanderer.com wants to do everything we can to support mom and pop restaurants and shops along the seashore.  So the next time you’re visiting the Central Coast, or if you’re a local with a little extra spare cash for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, try have look brah at Hoagies for a bite to eat, throw down a shaka to the boys, support the local community, and sit back to a relaxing epic meal.

Giuseppe’s Express

Downtown Pismo Beach has some amazing little gems, as far as restaurants to eat at after a surf.  Now whether this, “after surf,” is with the bros or with the whole family, Guiseppe’s Express Deli and Pizza restaurant is again, like all the places we feature on Surfwanderer.com, a family owned restaurant, and a 10 out of 10.

The deli falls too, into the surfer realm, because it’s run and managed by one of the coolest guys in town, Paul Simplicio.  Paul, an insane body boarder, has traveled the world for surf, and his picture on the wall getting tubed in Bali hangs, along with the best surfers in Pismo Beach, on the entrance wall as you step inside the restaurant pizza/deli.  That being said, a surfer feels right at home when he/she enters. Shell Beach Liquor and Deli

By Shawn Tracht

When cruising and perusing around the Shell Beach area on a sunny Central California day, a great, easy, affordable meal adds fresh toppings to an already ice cream sweet day.  Here at Surf Wanderer Online Magazine, we are always on the outlook for those niche eateries to stoke out our viewers, and we found another one here in Shell Beach recently at the Shell Beach Liquor and Deli, just blocks away from good waves. The North End Caffe Coffee Shop Restaurant

Point blank, when you are in or around Manhattan Beach, CA and you’re looking for a coffee shop restaurant that bangs down the doors, google search The North End Caffe Coffee Shop Restaurant and don’t look back.

Hearty size plates of urban creative breakfast meals are served just two blocks from sunny Southern California beaches.

Tastes top the radar charts of both the coffee and the food. Go hungry and with time to spare. You’re going to want to really take your time to enjoy this meal. Bring a friend or meet one there. This really is one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to.

Carpinteria: Taqueria El Tapitio

Right off highway 101, heading north or south, through Carpinteria is Taqueria El Tapitio.  Obviously, this online magazine is about bringing you top quality authentic Mexican food that soothes the post-surf burrito obsession, and this place does just that!  This is California Mexican food the way we surfers like it:  the owner only speaks spanish as well as most of the employees.  It’s family run, and their business is their livelihood.  This definitely shows in the mellow, friendly service, and the scrumptious tastes of the food. Oasis Restaurant

Just recently, we sought out the great Moroccan restaurant of Mediterranean cuisine in San Luis Obispo at Oasis Restaurant.

There are many restaurants to choose from for a great family or romantic evening in San Luis Obispo (SLO) County.  However, as far as Mediterranean food is concerned, a top choice in the county is by far “Oasis Restaurant,” on historic Higuera St. in downtown SLO.  It is an especial favorite for us here at Surfwanderer.com Online Magazine because it fits the niche for a surfer:  Low-key, down-to-earth service, and it’s family owned and operated.  Not to mention award winning Moroccan tastes, Oasis restaurant has been a longtime SLO favorite, and one of our top recommendations whether you’re dining with the family, the ladies, or the bros.  Continue reading…
