Tyler Warren finds some shade in Central America on the "Quadratic Egg." Photographer: Stonefish

We asked surfer Tyler Warren from Dana Point, California, about his favorite boards (for board reference, Tyler is 5’9 1/2″ and 155 pounds).

Surf Wanderer:  What is your current favorite board?

Tyler Warren: I am constantly trying new boards that I shape everything from 4’10” twins – 11 foot gliders.

I have been shaping almost all my boards mostly under the Hobie label the past few years.

I am riding a “Quadratic Egg” at the moment that is 5’11” 19.5″ wide x 2 3/8” it is a slight hull entry, with a flat center and a spiral “v” through the fins.  A quad set up with about a fair amount of nose rocker and a little tail rocker.  It is fast and responsive with lots of down the line drive and speed… you can see more at surf-knot.blogspot.com.

SW: What kind of waves do you mostly surf in?

TW: I like to ride all types of waves.

SW: If your not surfing that board, what do surf instead/want to surf instead?

TW: Super soap- 4’10.5 x 19.75 x 2.5 round nose wide squash tail with a long based twin fin set up.
