Walt Cerny showing what Channel Island’s “Cheese Stick” can do. Photo: Brent Lieberman

We asked surfer Walter Cerny from Pismo Beach, California, about his favorite boards (for board reference, Walter is 5’9″ and 165 pounds).

Surf Wanderer:  What is your current favorite board?

Walter Cerny: Channel Islands  – Cheese Stick. 5′-10″ x 18 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ (one of Yadin Nichol’s old boards).

SW: What kind of waves do you mostly surf in?

WC: Mostly beach breaks.

SW: If your not surfing that board, what do surf instead/want to surf instead?

WC: I have two “Cheese Sticks” that are by far my favorite boards.  My typical shortboard is 5′-11″ x18 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ and have found the cheese stick dimensions much better suited for me.

Walter is sponsored by Billabong, Esteem, Channel Islands, Von Zipper, Dakine, Kustom, Hoagies and Firestone Brewery.
